Tāwhirimātea

TĀWHIRIMATEA is the Māori God of Winds and Storm.  The Māori Movement is Hau Awhiowhio (Whirl Wind), focusing on High Intensity Interval Training (a form for short sharp bursts to increase your cardio vascular)

Warm up

The warm up is common to all levels of programmes and prepares the body and mind for the exercises ahead.

Level 1

In Level 1 we focus on the high intensity with a movement called Hau Tahi.

In Level 2 we focus on the high intensity with a movement called Hau Rua – the clashing of winds (The two winds)

In Level 3 we focus on the high intensity with a movement called Hau Toru. Clashing of winds from 3 directions.

In Level 3 ADVANCED we focus on the high intensity by combining the movements from all 3 levels.

Cool Down

The cool down is common to all levels of programmes and aims to stretch out the body after the intensity of Māori Movement.
